The project is the renovation of an old retail into a seafood restaurant. The location is in the busy area, Kemang, Jakarta where many other restaurants and retails lined up the street. Young and old people hang out and spend their time in various restaurant in Kemang, especially in the night or in the weekend.

The clients want to create a warm, down to earth, and younger look restaurant with combining the bright colors into the interior design. This two level restaurant space contains: the first floor (with smaller space) is the indoor dining area, entrance, cashier, and toilets; the second floor (with bigger space) is the outdoor dining area, kitchen, grill area and bar table.
The design is trying to make a summer feeling and festive atmosphere at night with open space dining area on the second floor. In order to optimize the narrow space on the first floor, the cashier is situated under the stairs so there is more space for dining area.

Due to the limited budget of the client, recycled material and furniture are applied to create rustic mood. The ceilings are left exposed with only black paint color both in first and second floor, and decorative material is removed. Exposed concrete floor, recycled wood and exposed red brick that covers the wall are also applied to minimize the expenses and support the industrial look. The bright colors come from the furniture that are painted in red, yellow, and marine color.

As the most visible part from the street, the curve windows are made to enhance the restaurant’s main facade and entrance. The red color aluminium door among the black aluminium windows accentuates the entrance. The fish bones inspired the herringbone pattern of window frame, and it is repeated in all windows to create the design integrity.
